Dr. James Edward King is God’s chosen, anointed servant Leader, Pastor and Founder of The Land of Promise Church in Fredericksburg, VA., the most powerful teaching & preaching ministry in the area. We believe it is God’s will and purpose that Dr. King has come to this area “for such a time as this," to proclaim and teach the gospel of Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit, utilizing his spiritual gifts to cause a revival and a hunger for the Word of God.

Dr. King is a native of Portsmouth , Va. He has an earned Doctor of Ministry Degree with emphasis on the church in the community from Howard University School of Divinity, Washington, DC. He holds a Masters of Divinity Degree from Virginia Union University School of Theology, Richmond , VA. and he has received. BS Degree in counseling from Old Dominion University , Norfolk , VA. Recently Dr. King completed the Scholars Program at Oxford University in Oxford , England and will be featured in the book Oxford Sermons 2006.

Dr. King, an advocate for higher education, always proclaiming, "Knowledge is Power and Ignorance is Out of Style," is an adjunct Professor of Philosophy at Germanna Community College in Fredericksburg , VA. He heads up "The King´s Circle," a monthly powerhouse round-table discussion group which addresses issues on every facet of life. Dr. King has served as guest panelist on many occasions discussing diversity issues, women in the pulpit, and Christianity today. Addressing cultural, social, economical, spiritual, and political issues are his plight and focus

Local government officials called upon Dr. King to help organize the National Day of Prayer following the tragedy of 9-11. He was the guest speaker at George Washington´s Birthplace honoring Mary Bowden and the Bowden’s of Popes Creek where he delivered the powerful original poem entitled, "I am Here!" which has gained national recognition.

Dr. King is married to Dr. Lisa King. Lisa earned her B.S. degree from Spelman College and later her degree in medicine from Meherry Medical College in Nashville , TN.   She is owner and manager of Lisa J. King, MD, LLC in Fredericskburg, VA. They are the proud parents of two sons, James II and John-Alexander.
